History

1994
Bernd Schlünzen establishes the company as 'Schlünzen Boots-Elektro-Service’ in Kiel and begins servicing small boats and yachts as a sole trader.

1995
Schlünzen wins its first major contract from Nordseewerke GmbH in Emden, entering the naval business.

1994

1997

  • The first employee is recruited
  • Maintenance of submarines becomes the company's principal business

1999

  • Bernd Schlünzen is awarded the title of master electrotechnician by the Lübeck Chamber of Commerce
  • The second employee is appointed

2000
The list of regular customers expands to include the Nordseewerke in Emden, the Howaldtswerke-Deutsche shipyard in Kiel, the Peene shipyard in Wolgast, and the German Federal Navy. Contracts were also won from the Coastguard and the Customs services.

2001

  • Schlünzen moves into the first workshop of its own in Kiel-Elmschenhagen
  • The first apprentice begins his training in the company

2002

  • The second generation of Schlünzens joins the company in the shape of Jan Schlünzen
  • The company is incorporated as a limited company and changes its name to "Schlünzen Elektrotechnik GmbH"

2004

  • The company concludes a co-operation agreement with the Greek battery manufacturer, 'Sunlight', and thus lays the foundation stone for international trade
  • The company moved from Kiel to Schönkirchen where it moves into larger premises so that it can handle the growing requirements on the business
  • The company now employs seven staff

2005
The company establishes a process-oriented quality management system and is certified to EN ISO 9001:2000.

2008

  • The manufacture of switchgear for commercial shipbuilding has grown into a significant proportion of the company's work alongside servicing and repair in naval engineering
  • The company today has eleven staff in administration, installation and the workshop
